Formula to transform a vision into outcomes

Stumbling accross a well summarized method for dealing with OKR (Objectives and Key Results)

OKR, is a methodology I’ve been using, and is a great tool to:

  • ask yourself questions about the vision and the direction you want to set for your company

  • breakdown the vision into goals down to elementary tasks

Vision > Objectives > Key Results > Projects > Tasks

Easier said than done, because creating well defined and understood objectives and KR is difficult.

Two formulas shared by David Theil1 have interested me in his article:

  1. Objective = We + action + direction + why.

  2. KR = We + action + number + outcome (+ hypothesis)
