Analysis Paralysis
If you're a sailor you'd better be aware of that.
How many times have you been warned: “you’re under the analysis paralysis syndrome”.
Meaning: '“you’re overthinking it, just jump”
In business as in your personal life you’ll often see two stereotypes:
the analyser: always in need for more data, more time to assess, evaluate, proof read, test, re-assess, …
and the doer: acting on an intuition, driven by action and the thrill of doing something
Put a doer and a an analyser in the same room and you might have some heated debates and discussions.
You might not be more one nor the other.
Depending on the time you perform a task, you might be either one of those two stereotypes. You just need to be aware of it.
Sometimes you need to plan, sometimes you need to execute.
However, you’ll be better off if you execute in alignment with your plan.
Imagine a boat, with it sails catching the wind, no matter its direction, no matter the course.
Imagine a boat planning a course, setting a destination, and having no sails.
It’s a matter of balance. It’s a matter of the time you need to spend in each role: the planner/analyser, the doer.
Same goes for writing posts. I’ve planned to write, now it’s time to hoist the sails!
Ahoi!
